Privacy Policy

What we collect
To provide the Appeard service we collect:
- Account information — your email address and password hash, created when you sign up.
- Brand configuration — business name, industry, location, keywords, competitor names, and optional website URL that you enter into the brand wizard.
- Scan results — the prompts we run, the responses returned by AI engines (ChatGPT, Perplexity), and our derived metrics (mention rate, competitor gaps, citation domains).
- Billing information — handled entirely by our payment processor (Razorpay). We never see or store your card details.
We do not collect or store personally identifiable information about your customers, employees, or the people who appear in AI responses about your brand.
How we use it
- To run weekly scans against AI engines using the keywords and brand details you configured.
- To compute your AI Mention Rate, competitor gap analysis, and improvement suggestions.
- To deliver weekly email reports if enabled.
- To send transactional emails (password reset, billing receipts, scan failures).
We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or use it to train any machine-learning models.
Third-party services
Appeard sends the prompts you configure to:
- OpenAI (ChatGPT API) — to measure how often your brand appears in ChatGPT responses.
- Perplexity (Sonar API) — to measure how often your brand appears in Perplexity responses, including the citation sources Perplexity uses.
These prompts contain your brand name, keywords, location, and competitor names. They do not contain any of your personal account information.
We use Supabase for authentication and data storage, Vercel for hosting, and Razorpay for payments. Each of these providers has their own privacy policy that governs how they handle the data we send them.
Data retention
- Active accounts: scan results are retained for the lifetime of your subscription.
- Cancelled accounts: data is retained for 30 days after cancellation in case you reactivate, then permanently deleted.
- You can request immediate deletion at any time by emailing hello@appeard.ai.
Cookies
We use a single first-party cookie to keep you signed in. We do not use analytics cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party trackers.
Your rights
You can export your data, update your account, or delete your account at any time from the Settings page or by emailing hello@appeard.ai. We aim to respond to all data requests within 7 business days.
